Dancin' Underpants and Kung Fu Fighting

I seriously did NOT post this video to make everyone jealous of Carson's Elmo underwear.

Captain Underpants!

Over the past few days, Carson has had a diaper rash that is really red and painful. He's a really tough kid, so when he cries about something, you know it must hurt...poor little guy. Anyway, I decided last night that he needed to run around without a diaper for a little while, to help air our his coolie. But Jeremy had a better idea: he stuck Carson in a pair of Brady's underpants so that he wouldn't be peeing freely around the house. Well, not only did the size 4T underwear fit, his big belly hung out over the top! He looked so freakin' cute, I had to keep stopping myself from pinching his little hynie!
By the way, Brady has taken to carrying around a pointer...he even wants to sleep with it. So maybe he doesn't want to go to med school. Maybe he wants to be a prof like his Nonni!

A Laugh a Minute

Tonight when I was getting the boys ready for bed, I noticed that Brady had a bug bite on his tummy that looked irritated. So, like any good mother would do, I put some hydrocortizone cream on it (is anyone writing this down?). I explained to Brady what I was doing, and he proceeded to try to pull his underpants up over the bite. "What are you doing", I asked him. To which he replied, "Hynie corna sone needs to stay warm". WHAAAAAAT? Yes, for those of you who didn't know, hynie corna sone needs warmth to work. Med school, here comes Brady!
So, of course, I started laughing too hard to continue dressing the child. He finally asked, "Mom, what are you laughing at"? I told him that I was laughing at how silly he is, so he quickly started dancing around, being a total nut, trying to out-do himself. And I realized that I must laugh more than most people in this world...there always seems to be a reason!

Brady Plays Soccer: Take 2

So, many of you may remember our "soccer experience" from last season. For those of you who don't, it's a pretty short story...Brady fell to the ground, face down, and cried hysterically at every game. But we insisted on bringing him to every game...Jeremy and I aren't quitters and we won't raise a quitter, so we just kept trying. Finally, for the last minute of the final game of the season, he ran after the ball.

So, needless to say, Jeremy and I warily signed him up for the season when Brady said he wanted to try soccer again this year. A few things worked in our favor, though, like getting to be on a team with his friends, and having his friend's dad as the team coach. Still, we held our breath when Brady was chosen to start in the beginning of the first game. It was a tremendous relief when the whistle blew and Brady actually started running. He may not have been running in the direction of the ball, but he WASN'T CRYING!!! We'll take it. He had a great time, and we are holding out hope that this season is going to be a hell of a lot more enjoyable than last season!

Changing Every Day

The boys, especially Carson, seem to be changing every day. Carson is in the phase of life that every toddler goes through where EVERYTHING he does is funny. He struts around with his belly out in front of him demanding attention. He wants to do everything that Brady does, whether it's alongside Brady, or if he has to shove Brady out of the way. But we feel so proud of Brady for (usually) being a patient and kind older brother who truly seems to enjoy having Carson around.

Carson has learned a lot of new "words" including: Bye-bye, Pop-pop (pa-pa), Nona, hot, stop, no no no no no no no no (even when he means yes), Uh-oh, ta da!, cow, moo, quack (cack cack), oink (ink), and woof.

Brady is learning to repeat everything that he hears other people say, sometimes placing his momma in awkward positions. He loves the song "Imma Be" by the Black Eyes Peas and frequently holds after-dinner dance parties in the living room. The kid has moves, even though he has decided that he no longer wants to take ballet lessons. He is getting so old, and we are really working on making him more independent...he'll be babysitting Carson and driving himself to school in no time.

These boys are really keeping us on our toes these days!

We Heart Cookies!

For Valentine's Day, Nonnie sent homemade (hee hee hee..ahem...I almost got that out without laughing) cookies, along with a decorating kit. We had a chance to sit down and decorate this weekend, and had a blast. These pictures confirm that our children most definitely come from me and Jeremy. Between Carson shoving the cookies into his face before I could even get the toppings out, and Brady concentrating like he's taking the SATs, both of their parents are spoken for through the boys' behaviors.

The Bougie Boys

First of all, I had to look up how to spell "Bougie" online (a word that Amanda once used to describe Jeremy because he claims that Whoppers are a white trash candy) and found that it has a double meaning. The first: aspiring to be of a higher class that you are (urban dictionary) and the second: a small tube inserted into the intestine during surgery. You can all guess which meaning I am going for here. In the middle pictures, Carson decided that he was going to read himself a book, so he assumed the position we would normally use for reading books in bed at bedtime. Funny kid.
The boys are each becoming funnier every day in their own ways. Carson wants to do whatever Brady does, and often gets himself into trouble. And Brady thinks that he will get some extra sympathy if he cries like Carson once in a while. Carson can't stand when Brady is getting attention, so if Brady gets hurt and cries, Carson will also pretend to cry and ask for a hug. He has also learned the art of boxing Brady out where parental hugs are concerned. It's funny...most of the time.
Brady has made a habit of repeating what Jeremy and I say, so we are having to be really careful. Before he answers me he says, "Ummm, let me think....yeah." or "that's AWWWWWWEsome". It's really funny, but totally forces me to think about what kind of person I am.
We are really excited for any visitors that we have in the coming months so that you can all come see for yourselves.
